Easter Egg Scavenger Hunt

Here is an idea for a non-traditional Easter egg hunt that my son, Ronan, loves.  It helps the kid to think instead of running blindly finding treats.  It also draws the process out a little longer.  :)

Print out some clip art of things around the house or take pictures of items in your house and print them out.  Each picture should represent where the next clue is hidden.  Last year I used Microsoft Word to find some clip art of generic items like a bed, microwave, washing machine, book shelf, etc.  This year I took some up close shots of items around our house.  I included 3 examples: a close-up picture of their toy kitchen, a rock outside in the yard, and a close-up of their stuffed animal bin.

Next, I will put each clue in an egg along with a piece or two of candy.  I will hide one egg with the next clue for each of my two boys near the item in the picture.  Make the search hard for older children and easier for the younger ones.  You know your kids.  :) I have 12 clues total to lead my sons to their Easter basket or last egg.  Make sure you leave one clue out so that you can start your child out on the hunt.  Ronan is really looking forward to it.  He has been counting down the days to his hunt!

I have also used this scavenger hunt idea for finding a box of chocolates for Valentine's Day.  Let me know how you did your Easter scavenger hunt.  I would love to hear how you do it at your house!
